Kamala Harris’ ‘The View’ Interview Preempted On ABC By President Trump’s U.N. Address, Sparking Backlash: “Stop Giving Him Airtime”
ABC sparked some major outrage during Tuesday’s broadcast of The View after fans tuned in to watch Kamala Harris‘ highly anticipated interview only to see President Trump delivering a speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
ABC had preempted The View‘s broadcast to share the president’s remarks and ABC News’ special report. Though the broadcast returned just minutes later, several viewers took to social media to slam the network for preempting Harris’ interview. Some viewers also pointed out that ABC was one of the the only networks to share President Trump’s speech live.

“ABC isn’t slick. You’re blocking Harris interview on the view today,” one fan wrote.
“TRUMP did this on purpose during The View to ruin the interview with Kamala Harris and to quash their announcement that Jimmy Kimmel will be back on tonight. @ABCOrlandoFl turn off Trump and get back to the program. Trump is censoring ABC,” another viewer commented.
Others asked ABC to “stop giving him airtime” and accused the president of “hogging the channel.”
“NBC didn’t interrupt regular programming to show this raving lunatic. If I were a cynical person, I’d say @abc took off The View because Kamala Harris was on,” another user wrote.
Luckily for fans, The View returned just in time for Harris’ interview, in which she discussed her forthcoming book 107 Days, which chronicles how she executed her 2024 presidential campaign.
The hosts noted the full episode will be available to watch on ABC.com after 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. It is also available to stream on Hulu.
The shocking preemption comes just days after ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! from airing indefinitely after Jimmy Kimmel made a controversial remark about the late Trump ally Charlie Kirk.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! is now set to return to ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 23, however, broadcasting group Sinclair announced it would continue preempting the show for the time being.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
