Aaron Rodgers lasted four snaps in his first season with the Jets. Justin Fields couldn’t make it through four practices before spreading panic.

The Jets’ new starting quarterback sparked fears of a season-ending injury Thursday when he was seen limping and then carted off the field at training camp, but the team later revealed Fields suffered a dislocation to a non-big toe on his right foot after being stepped on by a teammate and is considered day-to-day.

“When anybody goes down, there’s a lump in my throat,” head coach Aaron Glenn said.

Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million deal in free agency, has dealt with numerous injuries since being selected by the Bears with the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He missed two games with cracked ribs as a rookie, missed another two games with hip and shoulder injuries in 2022, then was sidelined four games due to a dislocated thumb in 2023.
