“We’re not trading Micah Parsons,” Jones said. “He’s a key part of this team, and we plan to keep him right here where he belongs.”

The Cowboys owner also said, “Any talk of a trade is BS” during an appearance on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” Friday.

Parsons is in a contract year and is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2025 season.

Parsons quickly emerged as one of the league’s most versatile and impactful defenders, and has been a Pro Bowler in all four of his NFL seasons.

The 26-year-old was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Known for his ability to rush the passer, cover in space and make plays sideline-to-sideline, Parsons has become the centerpiece of Dallas’ defense, which Jones recognizes enough to not want to trade him but apparently not enough to pay him as of now.

Jones doubled down on the sentiment, adding, “We’ve got him for three years no matter what.”

He’s indicating that the Cowboys, following this season, can use the franchise tag on Parsons for two more seasons, keeping him under contract through 2027.

Stephen A. asked Jones, “He’s not going anywhere?” to which Jones replied, “Exactly.”

Parsons is entering a phase in his career where his performance and potential merit a significant extension, and the Cowboys are working behind the scenes to secure his future while managing salary cap considerations.
