Jaz Sinclair Praises Marie’s “F****** Gratifying” Reunion With Annabeth In ‘Gen V’ Season 2 – But “Rejects” Her Parallels To Homelander

The Moreau family just got a bit bigger – much to Marie’s (Jaz Sinclair) dismay.

Gen V Season 2 officially reunited the young superhero with her estranged sister Annabeth (played by the newly introduced Keeya King). But Episode 6, titled “Cooking Lessons,” also revealed that Marie has a lot more in common with Homelander (Antony Starr) than she thought.

Former Vought CEO Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) revealed to Marie that she and Homelander were the only subjects to survive Project Odessa before it was ultimately shut down. Marie, who was desperate to atone for the death of her parents by becoming a Guardian of Godolkin and, hopefully, a member of the Seven, was then forced to come to terms with the idea that she may share more in common than she thought with the fascistic superhero she fought in Season 1.

Sinclair told DECIDER that Marie ultimately “rejects” any relation she could have with Homelander in Episode 6 – especially after Jordan Li (Derek Luh and London Thor) called him “cousin Homelander.”

“I think it’s scary for her,” Sinclair said. “Her origin story is really traumatic, and somewhere deep down she does think that she’s bad and that she’s a monster.”

She continued, “So when everybody is comparing her to this monstrous man, there’s a part of her that’s like, yeah, maybe, you know. I think that’s why she rejects it so hard.”

The parallels between Marie and Homelander aren’t really there.

But the Homelander comparisons fall away when Marie’s reunited with her little sister. Annabeth may be resistant to Marie’s help at first but she ultimately realizes Marie might not be the monster she grew up thinking she was. And Marie, who has spent the better part of a decade searching for her sister since they were separated following their parents’ tragic deaths, is desperate to make amends.

Sinclair praised the new dynamic, saying it was “so fucking gratifying” to see the Moreau sisters together again.

“Working with Keeya was so fun. She just brought it every single day and was just so eager and excited to be part of the team,” she said. “I just I love that they wrote in Annabeth. I’m really excited about that.”

Marie’s reunion with Annabeth also means that part of her hero’s journey has already been completed, at least for now, as she begins embarking on this terrifying new path of understanding what she is capable of.

“We just put so much into it in Season 1 and like, that’s kind of just been Marie’s ‘why’ the entire time, is just trying to get back to her sister,” Sinclair said. ” I don’t know, I feel like sometimes the character has a ‘why’ and you don’t ever get to see it play out. And so to, like, actually have these scenes come to life and to see this person who I had been missing for so long just felt amazing.”

But the episode’s revelations prove to be too much for Marie, who takes off in the middle of the night. What will the final two episodes of Season 2 have in store for this fan-favorite supe?

New episodes of Gen V air Wednesdays on Prime Video.
