Eichel becomes just the latest talented player from the 2015 draft class to sign an extension in recent days, with Connor McDavid (Oilers), Kirill Kaprizov (Wild) and Kyle Connor (Jets) all doing so with their respective squads on the cusp of the season.
The 28-year-old Boston University product was set to become a free agent after this season, but now becomes the highest-paid player in Golden Knights history.
The Golden Knights open their season at 10 p.m. on Wednesday night against the Kings.

Since a trade from the Sabres during the 2021-22 season, Eichel — a three-time All-Star — has given the Golden Knights a steady and solid offensive output and helped the team win its first Stanley Cup in 2023.
In 77 games last year, he racked up 28 goals with a career-high 66 assists and 94 points. He’ll now likely be on the top Golden Knights line with free agent acquisition Mitch Marner, who came over from the Maple Leafs in June as part of a $96 million sign-and-trade.
Eichel made clear earlier in training camp that he loves playing in Vegas and he values how the organization conducts itself.
“I obviously love it here in Vegas with this organization,” Eichel told reporters. “The people involved in it, from ownership, down through all of our training staff and everyone you work with on a daily basis. The community has been great to me. I love living here.”

Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said this week that getting Eichel’s deal done was a “priority” for the organization.
“I will say what I said in July, Jack is a priority,” McCrimmon said. “We have tremendous regard for the player and what he’s meant to our organization. I think he feels the organization’s been very good for him as well, and we’ll continue to have dialogue.”
