Ridley’s character, Ava, holds out hope that her husband is alive and out there, somewhere. But as she searches and buries bodies, she realizes she might have a bigger problem than a dead husband—the bodies she is burying are coming back to life.

Also starring Mark Coles Smith and Brenton Thwaites, We Bury the Dead first premiered back in March, at the South by Southwest Film Festival, to positive reviews. Now, finally, the movie is opening in theaters. But if you’d rather wait to watch it at home, read on to find out what we know about where and when the We Bury the Dead movie will be streaming.

Where to watch the We Bury the Dead movie:
For now, We Bury the Dead will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in select theaters in the U.S. on Friday, January 2, 2026. The movie will release in theaters in Australia and New Zealand on February 5, 2026. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. We Bury the Dead is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is the We Bury the Dead movie streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?
We Bury the Dead is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible We Bury the Dead may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. We Bury the Dead is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film being distributed by Vertical in the U.S.
That said, another recent Vertical movie, Eden, was added to Netflix about four months after it opened in theaters. If We Bury the Dead follows the same pattern, it’s possibly you’ll see it on Netflix in about four months, around early May 2026. Another Vertical movie, The Threesome, began streaming on about three months after opening in theaters, so you may see We Bury the Dead on Netflix even sooner, closer to April 2026. But many other Vertical movies have not gone on to stream on Netflix, so don’t count on it.
Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.
You will be able to purchase We Bury the Dead on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream We Bury the Dead on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch We Bury the Dead movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.
When will the We Bury the Dead movie be on digital?
The We Bury the Dead digital release date has not yet been announced. However, we can make an educated guess as to when we might see We Bury the Dead on video-on-demand, based on the digital release of previous films from this studio, Vertical.
Another Vertical movie, The Threesome, was released digital platforms about one month after opening in theaters. If We Bury the Dead follows a similar pattern, you might see the We Bury the Dead movie on video-on-demand around the first week of February 2026.
But this is all speculation. Digital releases vary by title. If you want to see We Bury the Dead right away, you can catch the movie in a theater.
