It’s been fifteen years since we last had a Tron movie in theaters, but now, finally the wait is over: Tron: Ares opens in theaters this weekend.

Directed by Joachim Rønning, with a screenplay written by Jesse Wigutow, Tron: Ares serves as a reboot/sequel to both the 2010 Tron: Legacy movie and the original 1982 Tron movie. And yes, it’s about AI. Jared Leto stars as a new named Ares, a new super-intelligent AI robot who travels from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission. The ensemble Tron: Ares cast also includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson, with Jeff Bridges reprising his role as Kevin Flynn from the previous movies. Joseph Kosinski, who directed the 2010 Tron: Legacy movie, serves as an executive producer on Tron: Ares.

Where to watch the new Tron Ares movie:

Right now, the only place to watch the 2025 Tron: Ares movie is in a movie theater, when the movie opens in theaters on Friday, October 10. You can find a showing at a movie theater near you via Fandango.

Is Tron Ares streaming on Netflix?

The Tron: Ares movie is not streaming on Netflix, and most likely will never be streaming on Netflix. This is due to the fact that Tron: Ares is a Disney movie and will have a streaming home on the Disney-owned streamer, Disney+.

Disney+ offers a number of subscription options, so you can find the one that works for you. With ads, a subscription costs $9.99/month; without ads, it’s $15.99/month or $159.99/year.

There are also Disney+ bundles with Hulu, Max, and ESPN+, so you can subscribe to up to three services at once and save over 40% every month. The bundles are available in a few different configurations, starting at $10.99/month for Disney+ and Hulu with ads, and going up to $29.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max ad-free.

Is the new Tron Ares movie streaming on Disney Plus?

Tron: Ares is not yet streaming on Disney+. Right now, the movie is only playing in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Tron: Ares streaming on Disney+ eventually. While a Tron: Ares Disney+ release date has not yet been announced, we can make an educated guess as to when the movie will be streaming based on previous Disney releases.

Another recent Disney movie, Lilo and Stitch 2025 was released on premium video-on-demand about two months after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Disney+ a little over three months after opening in theaters. If Tron: Ares follows a similar release strategy, you may see Tron: Ares on digital platforms around mid-December 2025, and streaming on Disney+ around mid-to-late January 2026.

But this is all speculation. If you want to watch the new Tron: Ares movie ASAP, you can catch the movie in theaters. And in the meantime, you can watch the 1982 Tron movie and the 2010 Tron: Legacy movie streaming on Disney+.
