Is the ‘Weapons’ Movie Streaming on Netflix or HBO Max?

There’s still a month left of summer, but horror movie season is coming early this year with Weapons, the new horror movie opening in theaters this weekend.

Horror fans have been eagerly awaiting the Weapons release date, in large part because it’s director Zach Cregger’s follow-up to the 2022 word-of-mouth hit, Barbarian. Written and directed by Cregger, Weapons tells the story of a bizarre missing children case, in which 17 children left their homes in the middle of the night to gather in an unknown place. Could it be the pied piper?

The Weapons cast includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Cary Christopher, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. The movie has received positive reviews from critics so far, and it’s definitely a must-watch for horror movie geeks. Where to watch the Weapons 2025 movie:

Right now, Weapons is only available to watch in a movie theater when it opens in theaters on Friday, August 8. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. However, we do expect the Weapons movie to be on streaming eventually.

Is the Weapons movie streaming on Netflix?

Weapons is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Warner Bros. release, will have a streaming home on the Warner Bros.-owned streaming service, HBO Max. If you want to watch the new Weapons movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max.

All the new WB theatrical movies end up streaming on Max, though the wait period has varied by title. Final Destination Bloodlines for example, was released on PVOD about one month after opening in theaters, and began streaming on HBO Max on August 1, about two-and-a-half months after it was released in theaters. If Weapons follows a similar release pattern, you may see the movie on digital around early September 2025, and streaming on Max around late October 2025—perhaps even a little earlier, if HBO Max wants to capitalize on spooky season.

That said, other WB movies, like Mickey 17 and A Minecraft Movie, took closer to three months to stream on HBO Max. So you may have to wait a little longer for Weapons.

But that’s pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. If you want to see the 2025 Weapons movie ASAP, your best is to catch it in theaters.
