Is the ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

After 15 years, the saga of Downton Abbey is finally coming to end with the release of the new Downton Abbey movie, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, in movie theaters this weekend.

This marks the third and final feature film for Downton Abbey, the award-winning British historical drama series that spanned six seasons from 2010 to 2015, and became a hit in the U.S. when it aired on PBS. The Grand Finale serves as a direct sequel to 2022’s Downton Abbey: A New Era movie, and, like the previous two films, will feature the return of many of the original cast from the show. Directed by Simon Curtis, with a screenplay written by Julian Fellowes, The Grand Finale finds the wealthy Crawley family and their estate’s staff navigating a changing world in the 1930s. Mary (played by Michelle Dockery) faces public scandal thanks to her recent divorce, and the rest of the family grapples with financial hardships.

Is the Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Focus Features release. Focus Features is a subsidiary of Universal Studios, and almost all Universal movies go to the Universal-owned streaming platform, Peacock.

You will be able to purchase Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital. You will eventually be able to stream Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale on Prime Video, free with a Prime subscription, four months after the movie streams on Peacock. This is thanks to the deal between Universal and Amazon that sends Universal movies to Peacock for the first four months of the “Pay 1 window,” then to Amazon Prime Video for the next months of the window, followed by four more months on Peacock. If our prediction for when Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will be on Peacock is correct, then you should see Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale streaming on Prime around April or May 2026.

But the first place you’ll be able watch Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie at home will be to buy or rent on digital platforms, followed by a streaming release on Peacock.

Peacock currently offers two subscription types: Premium with ads and Premium Plus ad-free. Peacock Premium costs $10.99/month, while Premium Plus costs $16.99/month.

You can save a bit by subscribing to one of Peacock’s annual plans, which give you 12 months for the price of 10. These cost either $109.99 with ads or $169.99 without ads.

Peacock Premium Plus is also available to subscribe to via Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that you can’t get by subscribing directly on Peacock.

When will the Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie be streaming on Peacock?

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is not yet streaming on Peacock. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale streaming on Peacock eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another Focus Features/Universal release, The Phoenician Scheme, was released on digital after about one month in theaters, and it began streaming on Peacock about two months after opening in theaters.

If Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital by mid-October 2025, and streaming on Peacock around mid-November 2025.

This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent release strategy for home media. If you want to watch the Downton Abbey: Grand Finale movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters.
