Is the ’28 Years Later’ Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

It’s been 23 years since the first 28 Days Later movie, and now there’s finally going to be a third movie in the post-apocalyptic zombie franchise: 28 Years Later, which opens in movie theaters this weekend.

Directed by the OG team director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, 28 Years Later picks up—as the title suggests—28 years after the 2007 movie 28 Weeks Later. (Apparently, we’re skipping over months!) The survivors of the Rage virus epidemic have found a new way of life, trying to stay alive while avoiding the infected. This third movie features a new cast, led by star Jodie Comer, who plays a woman named Isla who suffers from memory loss. Her husband Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is a scavenger trying to keep them both alive.

Also starring Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding, 28 Years Later promises to deliver all the hair-raising tension and horror that fans loved from the first two movies. 28 Years Later will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. nationwide on Friday, June 20. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. 28 Years Later is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is 28 Years Later streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

28 Years Later is not currently streaming on Netflix or Amazon, because the movie is being released in theaters, only. Right now, the only way to watch 28 Years Later is in a movie theater. That said, because 28 Years Later is a Sony movie, we do expect to see it streaming on Netflix eventually.

You will be able to purchase 28 Years Later on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream 28 Years Later on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon. If you want to watch 28 Years Later movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Netflix.

When will 28 Years Later be streaming on Netflix?

28 Years Later will likely be on Netflix sometime in the fall of 2025. Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. Other recent Sony movies, including Paddington in Peru, came to Netflix about four months after opening in theaters. 

If 28 Years Later follows this same release pattern, you can expect 28 Years Later to stream on Netflix around late October 2025, aka four months after the movie opened in theaters. In the meantime, you can go watch the movie in theaters.
