Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro has been trying to make a Frankenstein film for over a decade, and frequently cites Shelley’s 1818 novel as his favorite. With passion like that, and with a star-studded cast, it’s no wonder that Frankenstein was (mostly) loved by critics who saw the premiere at Venice Film Festival.
