Known as “The Steel House,” the 2,000-square-foot L-shaped residence is a minimalist’s dream: three bedrooms, two bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling glass, a built-in sauna and a swimming pool all tucked into a handsome profile.
But the house’s open design may have made it too accessible.
In late June, while Pitt was in Tokyo, intruders breached the property through its front windows and ransacked it for nearly 10 minutes before fleeing with an undisclosed haul.
The incident sparked concern among neighbors, who had long questioned the home’s modest fencing and visibility from the street.
The home lacked round-the-clock security unless Pitt was in residence — a vulnerability that burglars allegedly exploited when neighborhood patrols ended their shift. The “Fight Club” star quickly ramped up security following the break-in, but the experience may have accelerated his departure.
Pitt had only owned the Los Feliz house for a brief spell, having purchased it from Aileen Getty — the heiress to the Getty family oil fortune — in April 2023.
Set on a hillside, the home overlooks sweeping city views and stays true to its 1960s roots with terrazzo flooring, cantilevered eaves and exposed beam ceilings.
All three bedrooms boast eye-catching cobalt carpeting — while the kitchen, primary suite, bathroom and walk-in closet are outfitted with soft blue custom cabinetry.
Outdoor perks include a pool, a redwood hot tub and a standalone sauna.
Jonathan Mogharrabi and Marci Kays of Carolwood Estates held the listing.
In the wake of the burglary, Pitt traded up — acquiring a fortified $12 million Spanish-style estate in the Hollywood Hills with all the bells and whistles, including, most crucially, a top-tier security system.
“He wanted somewhere that could provide an optimal security system and privacy, and this place caught his eye,” a source previously told The Post. The home previously belonged to The Killers guitarist Dave Keuning.
As for the break-in, authorities arrested four suspects in August who were allegedly involved in a separate attempted burglary. Investigators reportedly connected them to the Pitt case through forensic evidence.
