Idaho murder house survivor Dylan Mortensen faces ‘soulless killer’ Bryan Kohberger
The second roommate who survived Bryan Kohberger’s University of Idaho massacre eviscerated the confessed killer during a heart-wrenching victim impact statement — describing him as an “evil” and empty coward.
“He is a hollow vessel, something less than human. A body without empathy, without remorse, ” survivor Dylan Mortensen told the Boise court.

“He chose destruction. He chose evil. He feels nothing,” she added.
Mortensen, along with housemate Bethany Funke, survived the massacre as Kohberger crept through the house one night November 2022 and slashed their four roommates apart — but he left the two alive for reasons still unknown.
And Mortensen said not only has her life been wrenched apart by Kohberger, but that the lives of countless friends and families have been obliterated.
“Because of him four beautiful, genuine, compassionate people were taken from this word for no reason,” she said. “He didn’t just take their lives, he took the light they carried into every room.”
“He took away the ability to tell them that I love them and that I’m so proud of them,” she added. “All of it is gone.”
Mortensen had to take several long moments to stop her tears and steady her breathing before she spoke.
“He will stay here, empty, forgotten, and powerless,” she said of Kohberger’s fate of spending life in prison.
