Human remains found near Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island mansion identified
The human remains that were discovered down the street from Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island mansion last month have been identified.
The remains that washed ashore in Westerly on May 14 were positively identified as belonging to Eric Wein, the South Kingstown Police Department announced in a press release last week, citing the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners.

Wein, a 31-year-old man from Massachusetts, was reported missing on April 18 after his vehicle was found on Ocean Avenue in South Kingstown eight days prior.
The press release did not include details about the cause or manner of his death; however, investigators do not suspect foul play and have closed the case.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones during this difficult
time,” they concluded their memo.
On the morning of May 14, Westerly Police Department officers were called to Everett Avenue in the Watch Hill neighborhood following reports of possible remains.
When cops arrived to the location, which is just 0.3 miles from Swift’s home, they located what appeared to be a human leg bone.
They collected the remains and transferred them to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis.
Taylor Day, a Westerly resident, happened to be driving by the “alarming” scene as authorities were arriving.
“It’s just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly,” she explained to NBC10, adding, “I would never expect anything like that — especially not in Watch Hill.”
Though police insisted no foul play was suspected — even then — Day “would definitely disagree with that,” as she emphasized that “finding a leg is very suspicious.”
There have been 13 discoveries of human bodies and remains in multiple New England states in recent months, leading residents to worry that a possible serial killer is on the loose.
“My mind immediately went to all the theories that are being thrown around,” Day said. “I’m more aware of my surroundings. I don’t go places that are kind of dim or where I could be alone. Just trying to stay out in public and be vigilant.”
Despite the multiple — and eerily similar — discoveries, officials have continued to rule out foul play, even claiming that there is no “connection” among the cases and “no known threat to the public.”
Reps for Swift, 35, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
