The “Stranger Things” actress appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast when asked about whether her mom ever offered some advice about working with the director.
Hawke replied by sharing that Thurman told her to “‘keep your shoes on.’”
Poehler and Hawke — who collaborated on “Inside Out 2” in 2024 — both broke out into laughter.
“Keep ’em on, baby. Perfect advice. Perfect,” the “Parks and Recreation” actress said.
Hawke, 27, starred in Tarantino’s 2019 movie, “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood,” while Thurman, 55, worked with Tarantino in 2003’s “Kill Bill: Vol. 1” and 2004’s “Kill Bill: Vol. 2.”
Thurman famously reacted to rumors that Tarantino, 62, was into feet during an interview on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in July 2024.
“There’s this rumor that Quentin Tarantino has a foot fetish,” O’Brein told Thurman, pointing out that there were several close-ups of her tootsies in the “Kill Bill” franchise.
Thurman claimed that Tarantino “staunchly denies” the allegation, but encouraged O’Brien to interview him about it.
“He claims that every foot shot was essential to the telling of the story,” Thurman said of the toe shots.
O’Brien disagreed, explaining that many of the scenes showing her feet seemed pointless to the story.
“There are times when I don’t see the point at all,” he laughed. “There’s serious plot going on, and then languid shots of a foot out of nowhere. That’s not true, but I’m just curious, it makes you wonder.”
When Thurman suggested again that O’Brien ask Tarantino about his foot fascination, he joked, “I’m going to be barefoot during the interview.”
“It may distract him,” O’Brien laughed. “He may start sweating, and we’ll see what happens.”
Aside from the two action thrillers, Thurman also worked with Tarantino on the 1994 film, “Pulp Fiction.
Thurman earned critical praise for her role as Mia Wallace in the dark movie and even earned a nomination for the best supporting actress Oscar.
While it’s unclear if Tarantino actually has a foot fetish, Page Six reported in 2023 that the filmmaker allegedly paid $10,000 to lick a woman’s feet at a strip club.
