Team Europe made Ryder Cup history in the opening rounds yesterday by becoming the first European squad in the tournament’s history to win the first three foursomes (alternate shot) matches.

Team USA’s top stars — World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau — went a combined 0-4 during Day 1. World No. 4 Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay scored the first point for the American side in the fourth match of round one.

  • When: Day 2 begins Sept. 27 at 7 a.m. ET
  • Where: Bethpage Black Golf Course (Farmingdale, New York)

Team Europe is hoping to become back-to-back champions, with 11 of the 12 players who secured its last victory in 2023 back on this year’s roster. A title defense hasn’t been successful at the Ryder Cup since Europe went back-to-back-to-back between 2010 and 2014.

Today’s format is more of the same; foursome matches in the morning followed by fourball in the afternoon. To win, Europe will have to reach 14 points; Team USA will need 14½.
