How to watch Ryder Cup 2025 Day 1 for free: Time, live stream

The 45th Ryder Cup Matches tee off today, and for the first time, it’s being held on Long Island.

Differing slightly from a regular golf tournament, the Ryder Cup is a team event, where the best American golfers face off against the best European golfers in a match play event where each match is worth one point.

It all gets started today with the first two rounds of play. In the morning, four foursome (alternate shot) matches will be played, followed by four fourball (better ball) matches in the afternoon.

As defending champions, Team Europe needs 14 points to win. Team United States needs 14.5 points to win the cup.

When is the 2025 Ryder Cup?

The Ryder Cup begins today, Sept. 26 at 7 a.m. ET. Play continues on Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 28.

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played at Bethpage Black Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York. It marks the first time the Long Island course will host the Ryder Cup.

The Black Course is the hardest of the five courses at Bethpage State Park, and is known for a sign placed at the first tee that reads “WARNING The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Only For Highly Skilled Golfers”.
