“We’re at the peak of summer and the peak of light in the Northern Hemisphere. This is a great time to be hedonistic, to enjoy, and to have that moment of recognition. Revel in these good times because we’ll face some challenges later this year,” Evolutionary Astrologer Jill Brown told The Post.

The word Solstice translates to ‘sun standing still’ — and this day of days offers a similar summons to we mortals, to be still and contemplate our own precipice, looking back at what’s been and ahead to what will be.

The Summer Solstice delivers the longest day of the year and thrusts us into the high tides and emotional depths of Cancer season. As cardinal water, Cancer draws us in, toward intuition, feminine mystery, interior worlds, and deep care.

In effect, the Solstice lights our way home.

“The Solstice reminds me of Joseph Campbell’s ‘Hero’s Journey’ — where we’ve reached the false end or the road back. We’re not done, we know there’s still some journey left. It’s bittersweet because from here on out, we’re losing light every day. This is an opportunity to be really intentional about this pinnacle and about the time between now and winter.”

Get it while you can, folks, and read on for Brown’s suggestions on how to praise this pinnacle according to your zodiac sign.

Fire signs – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Brown urges Fire signs to participate in rituals that embrace and/or stabilize their elemental nature.

“In the pagan tradition, the Solstice is celebrated with bonfires and people gathering. If you’re a Fire with an intention-setting practice, burn your intentions after you make them.”

Circle up to get down and burn it bright to get right, folks.

Brown also recommends smudging/smoke cleansing, fortifying plants with ashes, and purifying the body with sweat.

“I think any type of ritual that involves movement is really good for our Fire signs, any type of intense physical activity, anything that brings out and brings into balance that powerful energy.”

Further bowing to that momentum, Brown recommends Fire signs take a trip, whether it’s far and wide or around the bend, to honor the Solstice.

Earth signs – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Brown recommends that Earth signs get their feet on the ground and their hands in the dirt.

“For Earth elements, take a meditative barefoot walk, go to a botanical garden, or any type of intentional outdoor activity.”

She notes that going shoeless helps ground the body, while planting an herb can help wishes flourish.

“I love the idea of using plant magic to align your solstice intentions. Whether your space is big or small, a potted plant like basil is easy to grow.”

Brown notes that basil is traditionally associated with prosperity and abundance, making it ideal for Earth signs looking to cultivate financial freedom in the coming months.

Dirt rich and pockets deep, if you will.

As Earth signs go hard for earthly delights, Brown recommends hosting a solstice dinner that brings the bounty to the table: “Offer really good, local food that is physically nourishing and contributes to your community.”

Air signs – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

More heads in the clouds than feet on the earth, Brown says the Solstice is a fine time for air signs to practice grounding rituals. tntk – stock.adobe.com

Brown urges Air signs to follow the winding trail of their curiosity and obey the command to commune.

“If there’s anything workshop-y you’re interested in or a course you want to take, go for it. Proactively signing up for this kind of work will be super important for you moving forward. If there’s a charity or political cause that interests you, now would be a really good time to intentionally engage with those outlets and to come together in community.”

More heads in the clouds than feet on the earth, Brown says the Solstice is a fine time for Air signs to practice grounding rituals.

“To be a divine channel, you have to be rooted. Think of yourself as a tree; you have the branches and conduits to the heavens, but you’re tethered to roots to bring all that down into a tangible form. If you ground your connection, you can go even deeper. Otherwise, that energy gets really scattered and it doesn’t create and it cannot build.”

Brown recommends experimenting with grounding crystals or a crystal grid or meditation, practices that aid Air signs in holding space and transcending from the cerebral to the embodied.

Water signs – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Brown recommends that Water signs go beyond the typically prescribed ritual bath to find a more transcendent experience.

“How can water be not just relaxing but jarring and revelatory? I love the idea of using this element in different sensory ways. Try a cold plunge or a weightless tank. There’s nothing wrong with taking a ritualistic bath, but it’s the Solstice, a time to invest in something different and invite the opportunity to shock the system into awakening.”

Brown also suggests that Water signs dive into traditional and nontraditional healing or esoteric practices.

“This is the element that can really go there: breath work, past life regression, hypnotherapy, palmistry, ayahuasca, shamanism. You pick the modality, but really challenge yourself to try something out of your comfort zone to see what that deep inner work could look like.”
