We’re told that the timeframe was needed to make sure jewelers had enough time to make the pop star’s one-of-a-kind ring, which “took a while.”
Although it’s unclear if Swift, 35, had any input on what her dream ring would look like, our insider speculates that Kelce, also 35, likely pooled her best pals for some input.
Page Six broke the news that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end asked for the “Lover” singer’s hand in marriage with an old mine brilliant-cut sparkler with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
The elongated stone, which is set on an engraved yellow gold band, could be worth seven figures.
It appears the rock was finalized by early July, which is when Travis first showed his father, Ed Kelce, the ring, the patriarch recently said on “The Jimmy & Nath Show With Emma.”
Our insider adds that Travis did not drop any Easter eggs of his own over the course of the past few months, but it appears Swift may have had an inkling that an engagement was on the horizon, as we’re told the pair often talked about marriage and their futures.
Ed also revealed in a separate interview Tuesday that the “Love Story” singer had grown “antsy” thinking about whether or not her boyfriend of two years was going to pop the question.
“He was going to put it off till this week,” the dad of two told Cleveland’s ABC News 5.
“I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.”

Page Six exclusively reported Tuesday that Travis ended up finally proposing “a couple of weeks ago.” We can also confirm that the couple was not yet engaged when they filmed their record-breaking “New Heights” podcast episode, which aired on Aug. 13.
Ed, 74, also shared that his son and his now-fiancée FaceTimed him on Aug. 10 to share the happy news.
On Tuesday, Travis and Swift let the world know they got engaged, announcing via a joint post on Instagram, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”
The romantic proposal took place surrounded by beautiful greenery and pink roses in the pro athlete’s Leawood, Kan., estate.
We’re told nuptials will not take place anytime within the next six months due to the NFL season, but an insider shared exclusively with Page Six that when the pair says “I do” it will be in a “private” ceremony.
Reps for Swift and Kelce did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
