Cavill will star in Amazon MGM Studios’ remake of the 1986 cult classic, which originally starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery.

The new version of the fantasy action-adventure film features a star-studded cast. Aside from Cavill, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista and Djimon Hounsou also have roles in the film.

The film revolves around an immortal Scottish swordsman who faces off with other immortal warriors in order to obtain a coveted ability. Chad Stahelski, who directed 2014’s “John Wick,” is directing the remake.

Cavill said he was completely focused on “Highlander” this summer in a Q&A with the Hollywood Reporter published in July.

“That is taking all of my focus,” he said of the film. “It’s a project that I’m extremely excited about. This character is going to be a lot of fun to play, and I’m loving working with Chad Stahelski. He is a very talented man.”

Cavill is extremely private about his personal life.

He welcomed a baby girl with girlfriend Natalie Viscuso in January. The couple made their red carpet debut in October 2022 at the premiere of Netflix’s “Enola Holmes 2” in New York City.

Comedian Tiffany Haddish described him as “awkward” in person, and said she no longer wanted to sleep with him after she met him in real life.

“I used to really want Henry Cavill. I think he’s so hot,” she told the Los Angeles Times in May 2024. “But I met him, and he was so awkward. It was like, ‘This would be weird.’”

Haddish playfully called him a nerd, theorizing that he would “be more comfortable” talking about the fantasy game “Dungeons & Dragons.”
