The peculiar attack took place on Aug. 21st at Cafeteria Las Postas in Sevilla when a man asked workers “for a couple of packets of mayonnaise for his sandwich,” and was told they didn’t have any, the café shared on Instagram.

The mayo-less man then stormed off and returned to the café minutes later with gasoline from a nearby station, dousing the counter with it and setting it ablaze, according to the post.

Wild surveillance video captured workers and customers fleeing after flames erupted and smoke filled the space.

“Imagine the fire that started,” café owner José Antonio Caballero said, Euro Weekly News reported. “There were children in front of him, people spending the afternoon. It was tremendous,” Caballero said.

No one was hurt during the fire, but the flames caused up to $11,700 in damage, Cafeteria Las Postas said.

The condiment-fueled arson caught the attention of Hellman’s Spain, who offered to pay for the café’s repairs.

“Cafetería Las Postas: We’re sorry we weren’t there,” the company wrote in an Instagram post this week.

“From now on, you can count on us. Let us take care of the repairs and make sure your sandwiches never run out of mayonnaise again,” the company said.

“Thank you so much @hellmanns_spain!” the café replied. “It’s a pleasure to receive your help!”

The alleged arsonist was detained by several bystanders before police arrived. He was then arrested and had sustained several burns during the incident, Euro Weekly News said.

A Spanish court ordered him held without bail.
