“We couldn’t be prouder of the undeniable viewership heights The Gilded Age has achieved this season,” Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films said. “Transporting us to 1880s New York City, Julian Fellowes and the enormously talented cast and crew have created a ‘cant-miss it’ entertainment experience from week to week, and we’re delighted to continue exploring these characters’ grand ambitions for what we promise will be a thrilling fourth season.”

In the lead up to The Gilded Age Season 3’s June 22 debut, series creator and co-showrunner Julian Fellowes played coy about the show’s future.

“You have as much idea as we do, that I will say,” Fellowes said during a press conference. “I always love it though, as I was saying yesterday, you always ask these questions, knowing you’re not going to get a decent answer. And I never really quite understand why, unless it’s just the fun of us saying we’re not going tell you! But we don’t know either at the moment.”

The Gilded Age is set in the 1880s, a time where New York’s old money elite were forced to welcome in the robber baron and stock market tycoon families who were bringing in more wealth than had ever been seen before. The Gilded Age Season 3 has dealt with Bertha Russell’s (Carrie Coon) ambitions to marry her daughter Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) to the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb) while her husband George (Morgan Spector) battles to build the first transcontinental railroad. Elsewhere, Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) finds a new chance at love with the dashing Dr. William Kirkland (Jordan Donica), while a misunderstanding might ruin friend Marian Brook’s (Louisa Jacobson) happily ever after with Larry Russell (Harry Richardson).

The Gilded Age Season 3 finale will premiere on Sunday, August 10 on HBO and HBO MAX.
