Dominic McLaughlin, 11, got into costume as the beloved titular wizard with a collared sweater, a coat, jeans and a backpack.
Of course, the actor also sported Harry’s signature round glasses.
Nick Frost, 53, transformed into Rubeus Hagrid by wearing a long khaki coat over multiple layers and corduroy pants. Frost also donned Hagrid’s signature long hair and curly beard.
The pair appeared to be filming the scene from the first book and movie where Hagrid brings Harry to the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley. This happens after Hagrid rescues Harry from his aunt and uncle’s house on his 11th birthday to bring him to Hogwarts.
The debut season of the HBO show is expected to follow the events of J.K. Rowling’s first book, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” and the 2001 film of the same name.
When production began in the UK in July, HBO shared a picture of McLaughlin in character as Harry. The young wizard was originally played by Daniel Radcliffe in the film series that ran from 2001 to 2011.
Other confirmed cast members in the “Harry Potter” show include Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and more.
On Tuesday, HBO announced the actors joining the cast as the rest of the Weasley family.
Tristan Harland will play Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland will play George Weasley, Ruari Spooner will play Percy Weasley, and Gracie Cochrane will take on the role of Ginny Weasley.
In a new interview with BBC News, McLaughlin opened up for the first time about how it felt to transform into Harry.
“A bit surreal to be honest, because I was always a huge ‘Harry Potter’ fan when I was younger,” the young actor said. “And it was like the dream role, of course, so I’m thrilled to be able to be doing it.”
Rowling, 60, is serving as an executive producer on the show, which has sparked backlash due to her controversial views on the transgender community.
In June, she raved over the scripts for the first two episodes of the series and said she’s “worked closely with the extremely talented writers.”
However, HBO CEO Casey Bloys previously insisted that the show won’t be “secretly infused” with Rowling’s anti-transgender views.
The “Harry Potter” series is expected to premiere on HBO Max in 2027.
