Greenlandic, Danish foreign ministers smoke ahead of high-stakes meeting with Vance, Rubio

NUUK, Greenland — A screenshot of an apparently nerve-wrecked Greenlandic Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt sucking a cigarette while checking her phone ahead of her Wednesday meeting with American and Danish officials has gone viral in the country’s capital city, with locals saying they relate to her “vibe.”

Residents told The Post that, like Motzfeldt, they were also on alert throughout Wednesday, checking social media and news websites repeatedly to hear what came out of the meeting.

The new meme came from a video clip of Motzfeldt bumming a smoke from Danish Foreign Minister Lars Rasmussen near the Washington monument.

In addition to relating to the sentiment, several commenters also criticized Motzfeldt for taking the cigarette from the Dane — noting it represented “weakness” and claiming it was an example on Denmark’s bad influence on Greenlanders.

“Why didn’t they wait [until cameras were off?,]” one Greenlander wrote on Facebook.

“Typical Danes, and typical Greenlanders to follow in their footsteps,” wrote another.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
