Without Gano, the Giants turned to punter Jamie Gillan and it came back to haunt them, as Gillan’s extra point was blocked after Cam Skattebo’s 13-yard touchdown run with 1:44 to go in the second quarter.
The miscue kept the game tied at 6-6.

A year ago, in a Week 2 loss to Washington, Gano suffered a hamstring injury on the opening kickoff after dealing with a groin injury leading up to the game.
Gillam was used as a kicker in that game, as well, and after missing his first extra point, the Giants opted to go for two-point conversions for the rest of the game.
The strategy didn’t pay off in that game, as the Giants lost 21-18.
The 38-year-old Gano has made all five of his field goal attempts and was 4-for-4 on extra point attempts in the first two games of the year.
