Giants schedule interview with Lou Anarumo as coach search heats up
Lou Anarumo won’t need directions to the Giants’ facility if he advances to the in-person interview stage of the coaching search.
The Colts defensive coordinator is scheduled to conduct a virtual interview Tuesday for the vacancy in East Rutherford, The Post confirmed.

The Giants also are expected to interview former Cowboys and Packers head coach Mike McCarthy in person on Tuesday.

Anarumo is no stranger to the Giants or to general manager Joe Schoen. The Staten Island native was on the sidelines for the Dolphins at the same time that Schoen was in the front office before he became the defensive backs coach for the Giants in 2018, his final stop before becoming defensive coordinator for the Bengals (2019-24) and Colts.
Schoen hired Louis Anarumo, Lou’s son, as a pro scout for the Giants.
Because of all those connections and the level of respect he maintained in the building, Anarumo was seen as one of the early favorites for the job when head coach Brian Daboll was first fired. Schoen, Daboll and Anarumo all are represented by mega-agent Bob Lamont.
At the time, the Colts were rolling toward a possible No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. But quarterback Daniel Jones’ season-ending injury marred the season, and the Colts finished on a seven-game losing streak to miss the playoffs.
Anarumo’s defense ranked No. 2 in rushing yards allowed per carry last season and that’s a major area that needs improvement for the Giants, who were ranked last in the NFL. The unit was ranked No. 21 in points allowed and No. 23 in yards allowed.
Coaches employed by teams are not allowed to conduct in-person interviews until Jan. 19, even if their season is over.
Anarumo interviewed last week for the Titans’ vacancy. He was the runner-up for the Cardinals vacancy the last time it was open (2023), so it will be interesting to see if he makes it back on their list.
