Giants’ Jaxson Dart shares hug with mom after dazzling NFL debut
Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart capped off a memorable NFL debut on Saturday by sharing a sweet moment with his biggest supporter.
Moments after the Giants put a bow on their first preseason game, a 34-25 win over the Bills in Orchard Park, Dart — who went 12 of 19 for 159 yards and a touchdown — embraced mom Kara in the stands at Highmark Stadium, as captured in a video shared on X by Buffalo reporter Jenna Cottrell of ABC affiliate WHAM.

Dart, the 25th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, smiled beside teammate and fellow quarterback Tommy DeVito, who also got playing time in the preseason opener.
Dart, 22, entered Saturday’s game following a brief appearance from starting quarterback Russell Wilson, who orchestrated a 12-play, 30-yard drive for a field goal to put the Giants on the board in the first quarter, 3-0.
The Ole Miss product looked poised under pressure as he connected with wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a 29-yard touchdown pass in the second to grab a 10-0 lead.
“I’m comfortable sitting in there when the pressure gets in,” Dart said. “I knew the opportunity we were going to have — one-on-one — and L.J. went over the top. A lot of times, those are some of the biggest plays in games: In split seconds when you are about to get hit.”
Dart’s day was done by the start of the second half, with veteran backup Jameis Winston taking over in the third and DeVito in the fourth. Both QBs scored touchdowns.
“There’s some good stuff and there’s a lot of things that we need to correct,” coach Brian Daboll said postgame.
The Giants will have a week to iron things out before facing the Jets in their second preseason outing Saturday at MetLife Stadium.
It remains to be seen if Dart’s family will be in attendance.
Matriarch Kara went viral in April after the Giants traded back into the first round to select Dart, making him the second quarterback taken behind the Tiants’ Cam Ward at No. 1.
The Giants open the season on the road against Washington on Sept. 7.
