Worthy, 22, won’t travel as he recovers from a shoulder injury he suffered in a Week 1 collision with Travis Kelce.
The Texas product was a limited participant in practices all week, though head coach Andy Reid said Friday that Worthy looked fast and performed well in all the sessions.
But still, Worthy was apparently not game-ready.
Behind Worthy, receiver Jalen Royals is questionable for the game with a knee injury. If he is active Sunday, it will be his NFL debut after he was taken in the fourth round of this year’s draft.
Worthy dislocated his shoulder in the Chiefs’ (0-2) season opener against the Chargers in Brazil after colliding hard with Kelce on a passing route early in the first quarter.
The tight end later said he unintentionally laid out the receiver while trying to free him up with a “rub” on the Los Angeles defense.
Kelce said he “felt like s–t” after the incident.
“I’ll take the most accountability myself,” the three-time Super Bowl champ said after Week 1 on the “New Heights” podcast with big brother, Jason. “I wasn’t ready for that first drive, I ran into one of my guys and offed him out of the game. I literally took one of my players out. That’s one of the most frustrating parts and it’s hard to get your juices back going knowing you just hurt a guy.
“It’s a frustrating way to start off the season and start off the game. But you can take some good from that second half, but, at the end of the day, we just gotta be able to win up front, be accountable on the back end, and be able to start fast and finish stronger.”
