Shortly after, they left the glitz and glamor of Los Angeles behind for Europe.

“We’re very lucky,” Clooney, 64, said during an interview with Esquire published Monday, Oct. 6. “You know, we live on a farm in France.”

“A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it,” he continued. “But now, for them, it’s like — they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.”

The “ER” alum went on to reveal why he was “worried” about raising Ella and Alexander in Tinseltown, and how living a quiet life in France avoids those concerns.

“I was worried about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood,” Clooney, who also owns homes in Italy and England, shared. “I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life.”

“France, they kind of don’t give a s–t about fame,” he added. “I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

However, the power couple and their twins recently relocated from France to New York City temporarily so Clooney could star in the Broadway adaptation of his 2005 film, “Good Night, and Good Luck.”

The production’s limited run kicked off in April and wrapped up in June, and the “Gravity” star shared how his family was adapting to the Big Apple during a guest appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in February.

“They love being here. I mean, come on, how do you not love this? It’s New York City,” Clooney said at the time.

“Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule because you’re working at night,” he added. “You get to see the kids during the day. So, it’s okay.”

As for Amal, she admitted that protecting her family’s privacy is her biggest concern during a chat with Glamour published over the summer.

“I would say becoming a parent means you’re more troubled by some of the intrusions,” the human rights lawyer, who married Clooney in 2014, explained. “So, we do the best we can to minimize any impact on our children.”

“We don’t put our children out there,” she added, “we’ve never put their photo out there or anything like that.”

Clooney and his wife, meanwhile, made headlines when they showed up for the premiere of his newest film, “Jay Kelly,” at the Venice Film Festival in August.

The Oscar winner, who stars in the Noah Baumbach-directed movie alongside Adam Sandler and Laura Dern, had missed a series of earlier events because he was suffering from a “bad sinus infection.”

“We think he should be on the red carpet tonight, but he is very sorry he cannot be with us,” Baumbach told reporters. “Even movie stars get sick.”

A rep for Clooney later told Page Six that the star was “under doctor’s orders to cut back all activities” for the day due to his sinus infection.
