“A year since the fire,” he wrote. “Loss changed us. Love carried us. Sending so much love to all those affected.”
The All My Children shared the same video on Jan. 8, 2025, assuring fans that he and his family were “safe.”
“But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday,” he wrote at the time of his ex-wife Vanessa Mathison and their two children, Lucas and Leila. “Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can’t respond to all so wanted to give an update here. Sending so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires🙏🏼”
On Thursday, Vanessa shared a picture of her and Cameron with their two children “standing on the plot of land where our house once was,” writing that “one year ago today at approximately 3am, the Eaton fire consumed our home and all of our precious items it held inside.”
“We are still healing❤️🩹. Sending love to all the 13,000 families who lost their homes in,” she added.
Cameron appeared on Good Morning America on Friday, opening up to Michael Strahan about the “year of loss, of learning, of love, of next chapters” he’s experienced. Though he noted that his family and community went through “so much devastation and loss,” he highlighted how these moments of strife prove to be avenues for learning and coming together if you “have the right mindset.”
“There’s so many opportunities for compassion, for thinking about the thousands of other people going through it, for generosity, for giving back, for learning and growing your inner qualities,” he continued. “I know it sounds maybe like a little bit of a cliche or something, but it really truly has been a year of pain and loss, but also learning and growth and coming together like I couldn’t have ever imagined.”
