Gavin Casalegno Tells ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ About His “Crush” on ‘Noah’ Co-Star Emma Watson: “When She Said Hi To Me, I Was Like Melting”
Before Gavin Casalegno was making fans swoon as Jeremiah Fisher on The Summer I Turned Pretty, he worked on a film with some of the biggest celebrities — one of whom he was crushing on at the time.
The actor joined Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Tuesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark, where he recalled kicking off his acting career at the ripe age of 4.

Ripa replied, “Oh my gosh. What did you star in? What did you do as a four-year-old? Was it commercials and stuff?”
Casalegno confirmed that he appeared in “lots of J.C. Penney’s commercials” and Kohl’s ads.
“The cheesy grabbing the jacket. I was in all of your little magazines that you’d get in the mail,” he teased, “from like 2004 all the way to 2012.”
Consuelos quipped, “That’s why you look so familiar!”
Afterward, Consuelos highlighted Casalegno’s “first major film,” Noah, starring Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, and Jennifer Connelly. Casalegno explained that he was only “12, turning 13” while filming the Darren Aronofsky biblical drama, which was released in 2014.
Consuelos asked, “Did you know how big these stars were?”
While Casalegno admitted that he was not cognizant of how famous his co-stars were, he did have his eyes on a particular actress on set.
“All I know is I had a crush on Emma Watson at the time,” he recalled. “So when she said hi to me, I was like melting. This is the coolest, and you know, the accent and everything.”
Casalegno said his mother “was freaking out,” while he “didn’t understand the gravity” of the experience.
Ripa added, “You didn’t know who those other people were.”
Casalegno’s mother did have him watch some of his co-star’s biggest credits, including the Crowe-led Gladiator, 3:10 to Yuma, and A Beautiful Mind, the last of which Connelly also starred in.
As for Hopkins, Ripa asked, “She didn’t show you Silence of the Lambs, did she?”
Casalegno assured Ripa that she did not, telling her, “I watched that one myself.”
