Video shows one of the movie’s characters, fan-favorite Rumi, towering over the city as stunned attendees to the free event oohed and ahhed.
The immensely popular film gave the streaming giant its first ever box-office hit since the movie first hit theaters worldwide this summer, with parents and their thrilled kids singing along to the songs from their seats.
The movie later debuted on the streaming platform in late June and has surged to become Netflix’s most-watched original film.
The film follows HUNTR/X — a KPop trio who moonlight as demon hunters.
The band’s members, Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong) and Zooey (Ji-young Yoo), must protect their fans and take down their biggest enemy yet — a rival boy band of demons disguised as humans.
“Kpop Demon Hunters” has exploded from the screen into an international phenomenon, with fans posting their own art, covers, cosplay and choreography connected to film online.
Even tennis great Novak Djokovic celebrated a US Open victory last week by breaking out some dance moves to music from the movie — one of his 8-year-old daughter Tara’s favorites.
The movie soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Soundtracks chart and No. 8 on the all-genre Billboard 200.
