Exclusive | This was one of Rob Reiner’s last political acts as outspoken Dem

One of Rob Reiner’s last political acts as an outspoken Democrat was to give a $10,000 contribution to the party’s celeb-fave leading California gov hopeful.

The famous director shelled out the contribution to Rep. Eric Swalwell on Dec. 8, six days before he and his wife were fatally butchered in their Los Angeles mansion, allegedly at the hands of their drug-addicted son Nick.

Campaign records show that Reiner also made the contribution about two and a half weeks after the congressman announced his candidacy on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Swalwell, 45, last year missed more votes than any current member of the House of Representatives as he sought out the support of elite donors.

Other A-listers who have given to his gubernatorial campaign include actors Sean Penn and Robert De Niro.

Reiner, 78, was an unabashed liberal who frequently criticized President Trump and Republicans over the years, something he had in common with Swalwell.

While the “Stand by Me’’ and “When Harry Met Sally” director’s political critiques may have made his work polarizing for movie audiences, Reiner refused to back down.

“Listen, I can’t tell you how many times I get ‘libtard’ on my Twitter feed,” he said in a 2019 interview. “I mean, I’m the ‘libtard’ of the world.

“I get all that, and I understand that I’m toxic in those ways for those people. But if anybody wants to spend any time actually talking about how policy can be affected, how it can be put together, I can sit and talk with them,’’ Reiner said.

Swalwell’s campaign and congressional staff did not immediately respond to Post requests for comment.

But he posted a tribute to the Reiners on social media the morning after the couple were found dead inside their Brentwood mansion.

“Politicians always boast about how much they love this country,” Swalwell wrote. “Few people I know loved this country more, rooted for it harder than my friends Rob and Michele Reiner.

“Anyone who knew them will agree there are no two people who are going to be missed more.”
