Dr. Keith Ablow tells ‘Pod Force One’ how he became Hunter Biden’s shrink

Renowned psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow detailed his experience treating first son Hunter Biden to The Post’s Miranda Devine – less than a decade after the former Fox News contributor suggested Hunter’s father, then-vice president Joe Biden, may have dementia.

“I think I was recommended to Hunter, and I had treated lots of high-profile folks, continue to coach lots of high-profile folks. So there’s that,” Ablow told Devine on the latest episode of “Pod Force One,” out now, when asked how the unlikely doctor-patient relationship came to be in 2018.

Ablow made waves in 2012, after Joe Biden squared off with then-Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) in their vice presidential debate, for suggesting the elder Biden displayed an “element of dementia” during the forum.

By the time Hunter Biden contacted him, the doctor explained, bygones were likely bygones in the Biden scion’s eyes.

“When you’re suffering, it doesn’t matter. It really levels the playing ground. And one’s political affiliation doesn’t matter,” Ablow explained.

“If you think someone can help you at a moment of desperation, it levels the playing field. Otherwise, yes, I suppose it would be curious.”

Records from Hunter’s abandoned laptop reveal that the future first son began treatment with Ablow in late 2018 and continued into 2019.

As part of his regimen, Hunter is believed to have been administered intravenous ketamine – a dissociative anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects – to help him quit using crack cocaine.

At least twice over several days in December 2018 and January 2019, Hunter stayed in a cottage near Ablow’s office in Newburyport, Mass., and would frequent the nearby Blue Water Wellness Center to use the facility’s sensory deprivation tank.

Hunter and Ablow even discussed co-writing a book during their time together.

Ablow has refused to confirm treating Hunter with ketamine, but he’s defended the practice.

“If a cocaine addict and dealmaker were to decide he was actually an artist, one could harken back to any ketamine treatment and wonder whether that was a positive contributing factor,” he told Devine in 2022, in an oblique reference to Hunter.

“Without even confirming or refuting whether Mr. Biden was ever treated by me, those who would dismiss the possibility of completely changing one’s life are those who would also dismiss the opportunity for redemption, and I dismiss neither.”

Hunter apparently stopped seeing Ablow shortly before Joe Biden launched his succssful 2020 presidential campaign, in April 2019 — but not before abandoning a laptop “and a number of other items” with the doctor.

“I encouraged him to pick it up several times,” Ablow recalled on Wednesday’s episode. “And finally, we said, ‘Listen, if you’re not gonna pick it up, I’ll ship it to you.’ Never got an address where to send all this stuff. And then, because it was still in my office, it was seized during … the raid of my office by the DEA [in February 2020].“

Ablow added that “to this day, I don’t know why” the feds searched his office, but noted that he has never been charged with any crime.
