Dose for your Liver review: Is this herbal supplement worth it?

Earlier this year, my wife and I welcomed our son into the world.

While we are overjoyed with how happy and healthy he has been,  we also live in New York City — so I only need to walk a few steps to find myself in a constant jetstream of germflow. In my opinion, keeping a baby healthy starts with the parents’ support, and I have been on high alert these past few weeks with the “Super Flu” going around.

That’s when I started looking for a supplement that might support my immunity. In general, I wanted to find something that would be similar to Apple Cider Vinegar in terms of the benefits, but that tasted better. My parameters led me to Dose for your Liver: a once (or twice) daily shot that is formulated to support liver function, with a potent blend of natural ingredients like curcumin, dandelion and ginger.

Dose has conducted three clinical studies that demonstrate its efficacy in supporting liver health. The liver is the largest solid organ in the body and carries hundreds of roles — from energy production and digestion to fat metabolism. It also helps filter pathogens from the blood, helping regulate an immune response to fight off viruses. In other words, a healthy liver makes for a healthier life.

I was already sold on Dose, but I was also reassured when I saw some friends and family following the trendy new drinkable supplement on social media. Dose users rave about the flavor, benefits and the fact that it’s so easy to incorporate into their routine. Perfect for a busy, new parent like me.

Pros:

  • Easy to consume, once or twice daily (comes with shot glasses for easy measurements)
  • Tastes great, goes down easy
  • Dose is vegan, sugar-free, gluten-free and does not use synthetic colors or GMOs
  • Straightforward and simple herbal Ingredients

Cons:

  • The price is a bit high, especially if you consume multiple shots per day
  • Difficult to properly measure when drinking straight from the bottle

Dose for your liver is formulated to support optimal liver function. Each bottle includes Dose shot glasses for your daily serving — a 2-ounce shot that can be taken once or twice a day.

The blend of herbal ingredients (curcumin, dandelion, ginger, milk thistle and orange) is said to work together to provide antioxidant support, immune support, brain function, metabolism and help cleanse the liver of unwanted elements so it can do its job efficiently.

Unlike chewables and gummies that could require more work to break down, Dose’s liquid format could aid in absorption and require less work from your gut. Plus, the smooth, juice-like texture is said to taste delicious — so you’ll actually want to keep up with the daily Dose routine.

How should you take Dose?

Per the directions on the bottle, it is recommended to take Dose after meals. This is what I started to do, and I made Dose into a little post-dinner aperitif that I look forward to. It’s become a bit of a ritual.

Dose Review

The yearly NYC Super Flu is no joke. It can take the legs right out from under you if you are not paying attention to your health. With a little one to care for, I can’t afford to be on the sidelines, so I have been looking for supplements that support my immunity and energy.

Dose certainly fits the bill, but the price point initially had me hesitant. It’s $30 per bottle, 8 doses per bottle, $3.75 per dose. Ultimately, I rationalized the logic that each dose shot equates to a decent cup of Joe — and I could just cut back on the afternoon coffee in the name of wellness. Plus, if Rihanna is a fan of the brand, I definitely wanted to give this little slice of health luxury a shot (literally).

Off the bat, the bottle itself has a premium build and feel overall. The durable, glass packaging was a relief in the world of plastic pill containers and packets that have to be discarded as you open them. I can take Dose anywhere with me; throw it in my work bag or sip it while running errands without looking like one of those crazy health-phanatics. The contents of the bottle itself look exactly like a premium citrus smoothie.

I’ve tried my fair share of supplements, and I know that I can stomach a certain taste if I need to. But why struggle when you don’t need to? Tastewise, Dose feels like cheating. The taste evokes the sugary citrus-ness of fresh-squeezed orange juice, but is cut with the earthy spiciness from the ginger and turmeric. If you are taking or have ever taken a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar, Dose will definitely be the better-tasting option by far.

I have been taking Dose for about three weeks now, and I find myself looking forward to the delightful taste and noticeable energy boosts I experience after I take the shot. It’s a bit more difficult to discern the liver benefits, but there is something to be said about the fact that I have remained Super Flu-free. Even when my son caught a bit of a cold, none of it came my way.

Is it Worth it? The Verdict is in:

While I am making healthier choices in general, in terms of diet and exercise, I also believe that regularly taking Dose has played a small but impactful role in helping me keep up with the demands of fatherhood.

Dose is exactly what I was looking for. It doesn’t feel like a major disruption to my routine, and the quantity is small enough and so easy to sip that it doesn’t feel like a chore.

I consider my habit now formed, but the real benefit to taking Dose was realizing that a personal health journey doesn’t have to start with big aspirations and goals; it can start small — with just a daily dose.

Who would Dose be best for?

Dose is a perfect supplement for any health-conscious person who wants to start a new routine or develop a healthy habit. Since the shot is only 2 ounces and easily consumed, Dose is perfect for those with a busy lifestyle who may be starting to feel the effects of the season.

How We Tested

While testing Dose for over a three-week period, we considered a few different key factors: the flavor, ease of use, short-term and long-term benefits and packaging.

  • Flavor: As with any drinkable supplements, it’s important that you actually want to take it, and flavor is one thing that Dose got down. We considered the palatability, texture and overall taste, considering Dose as one of the tastiest supplement options we’ve tried — especially impressive considering that it’s made entirely with natural ingredients and no added sugars.
  • Ease of use: Habit-building is key when it comes to supplements, and we considered how easy it was to take Dose on a consistent basis — using the included shot glasses as well as taking it while running errands around the city. We found that Dose was very easy to use, and the small 2-ounce sip doesn’t cause much disruption to any routine.
  • Benefits: Before starting Dose, we took note of the range of supposed benefits and tracked any changes during the three-week testing process. We detected some small, but noticeable energy bursts after taking Dose, as well as potential immunity to common colds. Complete Dose benefits could take longer to see, so further testing is required.
  • Packaging: The dose is packaged in a tall, glass bottle that was easy to take around the city and throw in our work bag without leaks or damage. We also appreciated the addition of the Dose shot glass for easy measurements. Compared to some plastic pouches and pill containers and pouches, Dose’s packaging felt more durable and built for daily life.
