Dolphins tap Bobby Slowik as offensive coordinator
The Dolphins have found their next offensive play-caller after the firing of head coach Mike McDaniel.
They promoted senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik, who was instrumental in the development and eventual breakthrough of C.J. Stroud in 2023 and 2024, as their offensive coordinator on the new staff of Jeff Hafley, according to multiple reports.

After getting fired by the Texans following the 2024 campaign, Slowik joined Miami’s staff and worked with quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Quinn Ewers — two of the Dolphins’ options at signal-caller for next season — throughout the year.

So now Miami has another key coordinator, with Slowik, 38, joining special teams coordinator Chris Tabor on the staff of Hafley — who he overlapped with in San Francisco in 2017-18 when Slowik was the defensive quality control coach and Hafley coached the defensive backs.
And other teams, such as the Eagles, are left searching for other candidates to fill their offensive coordinator vacancies.
Slowik helped Stroud win Offensive Rookie of the Year and enter the MVP conversation as a rookie in 2023, with wih the quarterback throwing for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions.
That led to Slowik receiving plenty of head-coaching interest — he interviewed with the Commanders, the Falcons, the Titans, the Panthers and the Seahawks following that campaign — before ultimately returning to Houston, but he was fired after the next campaign when Stroud and the offense underwhelmed.
The Jets also completed a virtual interview with Slowik last offseason before ultimately settling on Glenn.
And now, he’ll be tasked with improving a Dolphins offense that finished with the seventh-fewest yards per game (300.7) and eighth-fewest points per game (20.4) this season, which contributed to their brutal 7-10 record, the benching of Tagovailoa, the firing of McDaniel and the decision, ultimately, to promote Slowik.
“I do believe I’m ready,” Hafley, a first-year head coach who was previously the Packers’ defensive coordinator, told reporters during his introductory press conference. “Now, are there going to be things that I learn as we go through this as a first time NFL head coach? Yeah, I mean, that’s life, but what I’m going to do is I’m going to make sure I surround myself with great people and do everything I can, that if I do make those mistakes that I won’t make them again.
“But I feel more than ready and more than ready to do it here.”
