Disruptions on NYC subway lines cause morning commute chaos for the second time in a week

Big Apple subway commuters were facing mass rush hour delays for the second time in a week on Thursday after a power outage near Manhattan’s West Fourth Street station upended multiple train lines again, just a day after the MTA announced probable price hikes.

As of 9 a.m. the B, D, F and M lines were all experiencing major disruptions, the MTA warned.

The MTA said authorities were investigating a “loss of power” to signals near the West Fourth Street station.

It comes after a mystery mishap knocked out power at the same station on Tuesday — throwing the morning commute into chaos for thousands of straphangers.

Lamenters of the disruptive delays on social media complained that the price of the subway keeps rising as its reliability seems to plummet. “im so happy i keep paying more and more money for a transit system that not only DOESN’T improve, but rapidly deteriorates,” one X user wrote.

On Wednesday, the MTA announced that subway writers would likely be paying an extra 10 cents a ride in the beginning of next year. The MTA last jacked up the price in the middle of 2023
