During the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular show at Disney’s Hollywood Studio on Dec. 30, the giant rock flew off its track and began bouncing toward the audience.
The stunt is meant to recreate the iconic scene from “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” where Jones runs away from a boulder.
Robert Herrick, a Disney cast member for 30 years, instead stepped in front of it.
Viral footage captured him hurling himself in front of the projectile and getting walloped.
Herrick refused to take credit for his heroics in an interview with WFTV Channel 9. “My only thought was that thing could reach the audience,” he said.
The accident left Herrick with two fractured vertebrae and wearing a neck brace for the next eight weeks.
Still, the hero expressed his love for the show and his cast mates, saying he’s excited to get back to work.
The infamous boulder, however, will not be making an appearance anytime soon, Disney said.
Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
