Dax Shepard offers to pay for daughter Delta, 11, to freeze her eggs

Forget a college fund — Dax Shepard is already budgeting for his future grandkids.
During Monday’s episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast, the actor shared that his 11-year-old daughter, Delta, “was saying how she can’t wait to have a baby.” He didn’t want to be “judgmental” of her wishes so he offered to freeze her eggs once she’s 18.

“She’s saying she wants to have a baby, and I said, ‘When do you think you’ll have your first child? When you turn 18?’ I want to be supportive of whatever,” Shepard explained. “I don’t want to plant any seeds that I’d be judgmental or whatever.”
After Delta said no to having children at 18, the “Parenthood” alum guessed that she’d want to have a child between the ages of 35 and 45, and offered to help his daughter with her future fertility journey.
“I said, ‘If you want to, we’ll freeze your eggs when you’re 18. I’ll pay for you to get your eggs frozen so you don’t have to think about that.’”
Shepard’s reasoning is because he knows women can end up “wrestling” with wanting to become a mother and starting a career at the same time.
The comedian — who shares Delta as well as 12-year-old daughter Lincoln, with wife Kristen Bell —made sure to acknowledge his “luck and privilege,” noting that “this isn’t an option for most people.”
Despite his in-depth plan, Shepard, 51, said Delta thought his proposed age range was “crazy” and “too old.”
“Again, she’s 11 so that probably seems like 80,” he quipped. “She’s thinking mid-20s.”
Shepard added that whenever Delta does decide to become a mom, he knows she’ll be a great one.
“For people who don’t know, our life is a traveling circus of Delty’s stuffies. The bulk of our luggage as a family are her stuffies,” he joked.
The couple have shared several anecdotes of their untraditional parenting style.
The podcast host revealed they are intentionally raising their two daughters to be “disrespectful” during a November 2025 episode of “Armchair Expert.”
He even admitted that one of his close friends was “shook” over how the girls are allowed to “talk back” to their parents — “or anybody.”
During a July 2025 episode, Shepard shared that he and Bell, 45, allow their young children to use swear words.
“I fully swear in front of my kids,” he admitted to guest Seth Meyers. “They are allowed to swear [but] not with impunity.”
He clarified that the little ones can use expletives “when it’s called for” — but only inside their house and “not out at a restaurant.”
