Slay spent the previous five seasons with the Eagles, and they also put a claim in for the 34-year-old.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport wondered on X if Slay’s “plan” was to end up in Philadelphia after starting nine games in Pittsburgh before his release, which came amid declining playing time.

The Bills and Eagles are both 8-4, but Buffalo was just ahead of Philadelphia in the waiver order.
Slay’s wife, Jennifer, had also hinted at a possible reunion on X: “Philly….ya’ll are fckn amazing!! the love is so real.”
But the Bills had other ideas.
“Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing,” Slay’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Eagles are in a bit of a free-fall after back-to-back losses, with the Cowboys lurking 1 1/2 games back in the NFC East.
Just as the news of Slay’s Bills decision was breaking, it was reported that Eagles star defensive tackle Jalen Carter would be undergoing surgery on both shoulders and his return is considered week-to-week.

The Eagles also lost rookie safety Andrew Mukuba to a fractured ankle suffered during the team’s 24-21 loss to the Cowboys two weeks ago.
Slay’s indecision comes with just five weeks left in the regular season.
