Dad of slain University of Idaho student Kaylee Goncalves claims Bryan Kohberger’s ‘weird porn fetishes’ drove him to murder

The dad of slain University of Idaho student Kaylee Goncalves believes her murderer, Bryan Kohberger, was motivated by “weird porn fetishes” — revealing his daughter’s body was found with “gag” marks.

Steve Goncalves told NewsNation that people close to the quadruple murder investigation called him to share details of the pornography found on Kohberger’s cellphone out of frustration with prosecutors dismissing that there was a sexual side to the shocking crime.

“People got so angry at what was happening in that courtroom that they would literally pick up their phone and call us and say, ‘This is what’s on Bryan’s phone. This is what he was searching. This was sexually motivated,’” Goncalves told NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield.

The grieving father claimed pornography that eerily matched the details of the murders was found on the killer’s phone.

“Weird, weird porn fetishes, but two of the fetishes were in that room,” the dad said. “Drunk passed out girls and gagging girls.”

He then revealed that the coroner had told him there was evidence his daughter was also gagged by the killer.

“There was some damage around her mouth. Somebody had pressed in and tried to keep her quiet,” he said.

Goncalves’ statement contradicts Latah County prosecutor Bill Thompson’s claim that there was “no evidence” of “any sexual component or sexual assault” to the murders.

“I don’t care about what [prosecutor] Bill Thompson said,” Steve Goncalves said.

He believes Kohberger was interrupted before he got a chance to sexually assault any of the victims.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were killed in the off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho, on the evening of Nov. 12, 2022.

Kohberger, 30, pleaded guilty on July 2 to the quadruple homicide and is expected to receive four life sentences in prison plus 10 years for the horrific crimes.

The killer, a criminology P.h.D student at nearby Washington State University, had maintained his innocence until he copped a surprise plea deal with prosecutors. The agreement meant he avoided a jury trial that had been slated to kick off in August — and he also skirted the possibility of being sentenced to death by firing squad.

The Goncalves family had been particularly outspoken about how they are “beyond furious” at the prospect that Kohberger wouldn’t face a trial.

“We want to get all of these facts straight,” Steve Goncalves said.

Kohberger is due to be sentenced on Wednesday.
