“My mom was my biggest fan and my biggest supporter in everything that I did,” Hatcher said.

“She loved the music. She loved the shows and after a lot of thought and prayer and speaking to my label about continuing on, you know, I’ve made the decision that I 100% want to continue making music and bringing smiles to people’s faces and being out on stage and everything.”

The musician’s mother, Holly Hatcher, died after a stranger broke into her Harrisonburg, Va., home just before midnight on Aug. 3 and attacked the 62-year-old and her husband, Michael, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Hatcher, 65, was wounded in the attack but managed to get a handgun from his car and fatally shoot the intruder, identified as 41-year-old Kevin Moses Walker.

Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson described Walker’s attack as “highly unusual and apparently completely random” and said the killer had no known history of “violent behavior of any kind.”

Walker purchased a sleeping bag and a knife at a Walmart two days before the attack and rented a campsite at Endless Caverns in New Market, Va., which was 20 miles north of the home, according to police.

The following day, felony warrants were issued for Walker after cops discovered Endless Caverns was broken into and Virginia State Police found the suspect’s car abandoned.

Police were unable to locate Walker until Michael called the police after the brutal home invasion.

Walker was found dead in the driveway after Michael shot the gunman in self-defense, authorities said. Holly was found dead inside with stab wounds.

Hatcher said the death of his mother, who was a teacher in rural Virginia for nearly 20 years, played a crucial role in his decision to move forward with touring.

“But I’m doing it a lot because I know that that’s what my mom would want me to do,” the rising star suggested.” You know, she’d want me to keep on and I know how much she loved it and I know how much y’all love it so I’m not going to quit. I’m going to keep on going as hard as I possibly can, as I always have and I want you to come along on this journey with me as I get back into it.”

The “Drink You Gone” singer planned to get back out on the road and promote his new music.

The singer has nearly a dozen performances booked until the end of the year, according to the tour section of his website.

“Before all of this happened, we had a pretty big schedule, we were going to go out on a radio tour and we had shows lined up and lots of exciting things that we’re going to resume,” Hatcher shared. “We’re going to go back to the schedule that we had, gotta go out to these radio stations, we’re going to keep going out and playing shows.”

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
