Cops hunt suspect after two bodies found in Arkansas state park



The bodies of a man and woman were found on a walking trail at a popular state park in Arkansas over the weekend — sparking a manhunt for their possible killer.

Cops said the corpses of a 43-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were discovered Saturday afternoon at Devil’s Den State Park, a tourist destination famous for its caves, rock formations and thousands of acres of forest.

Arkansas State Police are searching for a suspect after two bodies were found at Devil’s Den State Park. 40/29 News

Arkansas State Police said they are now looking for a suspicious white male wearing dark shorts, a dark tank top and weightlifting-type gloves.

ASP said in a press release that he was last seen driving toward a park exit in a black four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate covered with electrical or duct tape.

The park, located in Ozark National Forest, is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. 40/29 News

The two dead bodies are meanwhile being transported to Arkansas State Crime Lab, where their manner and cause of death will be determined, authorities said.

Cops said the suspect was last seen driving near the park exit in a black four-door sedan — possibly a Mazda — with its license plate obscured by duct or electrical tape. 40/29 News

“We are heartbroken by today’s horrific news from Devil’s Den State Park and are in close contact with State Police and the Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism as they work to apprehend the suspect,” Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on social media.

“We are praying for the family and friends of the victims, and know that law enforcement will not rest until the perpetrator is brought to justice.”

Located about 30 miles south of Fayetteville, Devil’s Den State Park — nestled in Ozark National Forest — is an outdoor enthusiast haven replete with hiking trails, mountain biking, horseback riding, camping and fishing and boating.
