Blough’s promotion comes as head coach Dan Quinn reshapes the coaching staff for the 2026 season in the post-Kingsbury era.

Blough, 30, ascends from a coaching role he began after retiring from his playing career.
A former Purdue standout quarterback, Blough went undrafted in 2019 and had stints with the Browns, Lions, Vikings and Cardinals.
He appeared in nine games, starting seven, with 1,435 passing yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions with a 67.1 passer rating.
Blough, following his retirement from playing, was hired by Washington as an assistant quarterbacks coach in February 2024 under Kingsbury.

He later stepped in as interim quarterbacks coach late in the 2025 season when Tavita Pritchard departed for Stanford.
The promotion makes this Blough’s first full offensive coordinator role.
Kingsbury and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. were both dismissed after Washington’s tough finish.
Washington’s collapse in 2025 was driven by a series of unfortunate injuries to key players, most notably to rising star quarterback Jayden Daniels, who dealt with a dislocated elbow and other setbacks that limited his availability.
The team also regressed in other areas, including defense, leading Quinn to assume play-calling duties in the final half of the season.
