Charles Kushner roils France for ripping Macron over Gaza
France has summoned Charles Kushner, Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law and the US ambassador to the country, after he wrote to President Emmanuel Macron alleging he hasn’t done enough to combat antisemitism.
The French foreign ministry said it was shocked by Kushner’s scathing take on Macron’s stances, calling it “unacceptable” and ordering the ambassador to appear Monday at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The ministry said Kushner’s allegations were in clear violation of international law and the obligation not to interfere with the internal affairs of another country.
Kushner, a Jewish New York City developer and philanthropist, said in his letter that Macron has only fueled Jew hatred by criticizing Israel’s retaliatory war in Gaza and by moving to recognize a Palestinian state.
“Public statements haranguing Israel and gestures toward recognition of a Palestinian state embolden extremists, fuel violence and endanger Jewish life in France,” wrote Kushner, who was appointed ambassador by Ivanka’s father President Trump.
Kushner is the dad of Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner.
The ambassador urged Macron “to act decisively: enforce hate-crime laws without exception, ensure the safety of Jewish schools, synagogues and businesses … and abandon steps that give legitimacy to Hamas and its allies.”
But the ministry shot back in its own blistering statement that the allegations “fall short of the quality of the transatlantic partnership between France and the United States and of the trust that must prevail between allies.”
French officials denied Kushner’s allegations, maintaining that the nation has “fully mobilized” all its tools to combat antisemitism, which has been on the rise across the globe since the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack against Israel.
France is home to about 500,000 Jews, the largest Jewish population in Europe, and third-largest in the world behind Israel and the US.
Charles Kushner’s allegations come after Macron came under fire from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who accused the French president last week of fueling antisemitism by moving to recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations.
Netanyahu and his supporters maintain that such a move only rewards the Palestinian terror group Hamas for the Oct. 7 attack, which killed more than 1,200 people in Israel and started the war in Gaza.
While the White House has yet to comment on the incident, the State Department said it is fully standing behind Kushner and his letter to Macron.
“Ambassador Kushner is our U.S. government representative in France and is doing a great job advancing our national interests in that role,” said State Department spokemanTommy Pigott.
Trump has typically stood behind Charles Kushner, with the president pardoning his relative by marriage during his first term, after the elder Kushner pleaded guilty to tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations.
