Cam Heyward says Aaron Rodgers has ‘bought in’
Aaron Rodgers is getting rave reviews from his teammates ahead of training camp.
Veteran defensive lineman Cam Heyward, who has spent his entire 11-year career with the Steelers, is all in on having No. 8 in the fold and behind center for the team this year in a bit of an about-face.

“It just felt like he has bought in, and it worked out for the best,” Heyward said on “The Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday. “I know sometimes we live in a society where we want things now. But patience has a way of paying off. And to now see he’s a Pittsburgh Steeler, and just him walking through the locker room asking questions [about] how we do things. He’s bought in, and that’s all I can ask for our quarterback. As a teammate, I’m excited to go work with him.”
Heyward previously said he would not recruit Rodgers while the ex-Jet pondered whether he would sign with the Steelers for several months.
“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap,” the seven-time Pro Bowler said in March. “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple. That’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers, if you want to be a part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”
Rodgers, 41, wound up signing a one-year contract with the Steelers and later revealed that it would likely be his final season in the NFL.
Rodgers endured two largely unsuccessful seasons with the Jets, including a 5-12 2024 that saw head coach Robert Saleh get fired in the middle of the season.
