Brute on probation allegedly beat ex to death inside motel, fled with their 2-year-old son: report

A Westchester County man is facing murder charges for allegedly beating his 32-year-old ex to death inside a local motel room and fleeing with the couple’s 2-year-old son.
Justin Bartley, 32, is now being held without bail after the cleaning staff found the battered body of Roseberline Philippe in Room 230 at the Days Inn motel in Elmsford Sunday, lohud.com reported.

Records show Bartley has an open drunk driving and weapons possession case from May pending in White Plains — and the outlet said he was on probation for a gun conviction in Rockland County.
“She was so sweet and always laughing even if she was dealing with stuff,” the slain woman’s sister, Yvena Philippe, told lohud Tuesday. “She was a giver and he took advantage of her in that way.”
She said Bartley and her sister — an office assistant at White Plains Hospital — met at Port Chester High School, and sparked up a romance years later.
But she said her sister grew to fear Bartley after they had their son.
Yvena Philippe said her family had a nasty confrontation with the accused killer on Saturday when he showed up at the White Plains home where Roseberline lived with her parents and was told to leave.
On Sunday, police said Bartley and Roseberline were at the hotel when he allegedly beat her for hours, then left her body and fled to take their son to his family in the Bronx.
Surveillance footage from the motel allegedly caught the killer fleeing with the boy, and Bartley was arrested later in the day by a task force of village and county cops and the FBI, lohud said.
“We thought she was coming home,” Yvena Philippe said. “But I think he had a plan for her not to come home.”
