Browns’ two-word stance on trading Myles Garrett revealed
NFL execs hoping to land star Browns defensive end Myles Garrett before next week’s trade deadline shouldn’t hold their breath.
With Cleveland sitting in the basement of the AFC North at 2-6, questions have swirled as to whether the franchise’s $160 million defensive playmaker would be moved — a thought a Browns source pushed back on Wednesday to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“No chance,” one source told Schefter, adding, “People have a better chance of winning the lottery.”
In the first year of a four-year, $160 million contract extension signed in March, Garrett has remained a dominant force for the Browns, racking up five sacks alone on Sunday in a 32-13 loss to the Patriots as the offensive woes continued.
Rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel tossed two interceptions in the lopsided affair, with Garrett stating he would “throw [his] whole performance away for a win.”
“It doesn’t get any easier each week you ask me,” the six-time Pro Bowler said afterward.

The Browns’ first overall pick in 2017, Garrett has weathered turbulent seasons in Cleveland, with frustrations reaching a fever pitch in February when he publicly requested a trade.

“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns,” he said at the time.
Garrett’s public declaration came days after general manager Andrew Berry said he wasn’t open to shopping his star, stating earlier this year: “We feel really good about Myles obviously as a big piece of our future. We’re looking forward to him being on the field. Like I said in my (early January) press conference, we envision him going from Cleveland to Canton when his career is over.”
