‘Brilliant Minds’ Exclusive Clip: Dr. Markus Learns Michelle’s Fate After Mid-Season Finale Car Crash

Brilliant Minds fans have been rooting for Dr. Van Markus (Alex MacNicoll) and his social worker ex, Michelle (Stacey Farber), to work things out. However, the mid-season finale ended as Markus left the hospital gala heartbroken and unaware that Michelle was rendered hurt and unconscious in a car accident on her way to meet him.
In this exclusive clip from tonight’s all-new episode, the staff at Bronx General Hospital learns of Michelle’s fate. The sequence begins when a team of paramedics rushes Michelle into the emergency room. “30-year-old in MVC [motor vehicle collision] extracted with a thread pulse,” says the female paramedic as her team puts Michelle on a gurney where a team of doctors, including Dr. Anthony Thorne (John Clarence Stewart), can evaluate her.

Thorne takes an ultrasound of her chest. “There’s blood around her heart; she’s gonna lose her pulse,” he says as the nurses scramble around them. “Give me a thoracotomy tray right now!” Just then, Dr. Jacob Nash (Spence Moore II) and Dr. Ericka Kinney (Ashleigh LaTrop) walk into the room. “Neuro team checking in,” says Nash as Thorne instructs him to wait until his patient is stabilized. Kinney takes a closer look and recognizes the patient. “It’s Michelle,” says Kinney in horror as she and Nash both take out their phones.
As Kinney attempts to leave a message for Dr. Wolf (Zachary Quinto), Nash is able to reach Markus. “What are her vitals?” asks Markus, who is with their colleague, Dr. Dana Dang (Aury Krebs). “I can’t tell what’s happening, but Ericka’s trying to get a better look,” says Nash. Dang desperately calls an Uber, while Markus presses Nash for more information. “What about her neuro exam?” asks Markus desperately.
“We’re not able to give one because there are too many trauma surgeons around,” says Nash. Quickly, Kinney spots Thorne’s instruments. “It’s a thoracotomy,” cries Kinney. When Nash relays the information to Markus, Markus springs into action, stopping a cab by throwing himself in front of it to get to the love of his life as soon as possible. “Bronx General now,” yells Markus as he and Dang dive into the backseat.
Will Thorne’s thoracotomy be successful? How soon can Markus get to Michelle’s side? Tune in to NBC tonight at 10:00 PM ET/PT to see what happens next!
