Brie Larson dishes on her new cookbook and favorite fall styles

She’s an Academy Award winner (for her harrowing turn in “Room”) and part of the blockbuster Avengers team as Captain Marvel. But Brie Larson remains a foodie at heart (in line with her recent TV shows “Lessons in Chemistry” and culinary juggernaut “The Bear,” where she had a small but memorable part as Francie Fak).

On Oct. 21, she will release a book on entertaining, “Party People: A Cookbook for Creative Celebrations” — a collab with former Milk Bar culinary director Courtney McBroom. The two met “over a bowl of molten queso 10 years ago,” says Larson, 36. Since then, they’ve hosted everything from a “Dirty Dancing”-themed birthday to an annual Hot Dog Appreciation Festival. The actress’ favorite of all their events is a yearly Murder Mystery bash. “It lasts about five hours, and guests have to be fully committed to their character upon arrival,” says the Sacramento-born star. “No phones, all tomfoolery.”

The stylish star says her party uniform while serving cheeky dishes from the cookbook, such as Cheesy Jenga Bread and Dueling Roast Chickens, is a slip dress with a cardigan. But her most-shopped accessory? Socks. “I love them,” Larson tells Alexa. “Short, tall, striped, plain — they can really complete the look!”

Here are other comfort items that truly spice up her life.
